(CBFC)

Capital Bank Financial Corp., formerly known as North American Financial Holdings, Inc., is a national bank holding company that was incorporated in the State of Delaware in 2009.  Former Bank of America Corp executives Gene Taylor and Chris Marshall raised $900 million in 2009 to buy troubled banks. Since that time, CBFC has acquired the assets of Capital Bank, TIB Financial Corp, MetroBank, Turnberry Bank, First National Bank of the South, Green Bankshares, and Southern Community Financial Corp.  In the wake of the U.S. financial crisis, CBFC was one of a number of private equity funded ventures that aimed to profit by purchasing and rehabilitating failing banks. With seven acquisitions, it has been one of the most active buyers in the market.

Capital Bank Financial Corp. operates 165 branches in five states in the southeast with total assets of approximately $8.1 billion.  The CBFC executive team formerly worked with Falfurrias Co-Founders, Hugh McColl and Marc Oken while at Bank of America.  Marc Oken serves on CBFC’s Board of Directors.
